PLUS is a skateshop in Farmington, MI that’s been fueling the Southeast Michigan skate scene since 2003. It’s become a regular stop for pros visiting Detroit. Skaters of all ages and skill levels can come through for boards, gear and connecting with the local scene.
Founder and Michigan native, Rob Woelkers, started skating in 1986.[1] He’s worked in the skate industry ever since. In 2003, he established PLUS, fulfilling his life long dream of owning a skate shop. The store’s mission is to give skaters a place where they can come and feel welcome, get the best product and be immersed in skateboarding.
Since opening, PLUS has undergone several expansions. Notably, in 2017, the shop moved from the original basement unit it occupied on Grand River to its current storefront now at street level in the same building. Upon entering, you’ll find tons of skate memorabilia. On the ceiling you’ll find old decks that have shaped the industry from the past 40+ years. The shop maintains a variety inventory and is operational online and in retail.
Over the years, PLUS has sponsored several Detroit-based skateboarders, many of which have been featured in mags like Thrasher, Skateboarder and Transworld.
Beyond the shop, PLUS supports the scene via local contests, hosting demos, helping local skaters gain international recognition, skate camps and giving back to the community.
