The Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) is a skatepark in Tampa, Florida, United States. It’s considered one of the most iconic skateboard venues. The name is often abbreviated as SPoT, and it is known for its annual Tampa Am and Tampa Pro competitions.
Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) has survived many highs and lows of skateboarding while remaining its status as an iconic skate venue. In 1992, Brian Schafer convinced the warehouse landlord, George Lackey, to build a skatepark in the 28,000 SF space.
SPoT officially began in 1993 with just a vert ramp for locals. Through the years, it transformed into an indoor/outdoor park with concrete transitions, ramps, rails and a skate shop that attracts skaters from across the globe.

Outdoor concrete transition course
Starting in 1995, the Tampa Pro skate contest is the largest and longest running professional skateboarding contest in the world. The legendary Skatepark of Tampa course largely remains the same, but with minor changes each year. Pros travel from around the world to Tampa, FL for a chance to win and earn a straight shot to semi finals for life. Tampa Pro is considered one of the last core skate contests.
